Today I am thankful for the Minnesota Twins

Happy Thanksgiving (ALMOST)... Before I take off for a fun-filled family fest this week/weekend, I thought I would take a minute to wish my Minnesota Twins Family a Happy Thanksgiving!

Like most families, mine goes around the table at Thanksgiving Dinner and tells everyone what we are thankful for. This year I am Thankful for the Minnesota Twins, Twins Tickets, the New Twins Jerseys, and most of all I am Thankful for the new home of the Twins, Target Field!

I know it will be quite a while before we can go and sit in the seats of Target Field, I just wanted to remind everyone that we should all say a little extra Thank You to the the Thanksgiving Gods for providing us with the awesome new baseball stadium we lovingly call Target Field!

Hope your Holiday is wonderful, see you all back here at Minnesota Twins Fan next week!

Minnesota Twins reveal the new Twins Jerseys

It's no surprise that with the Minnesota Twins moving to a new field, they would release new Twins Uniforms as well. This week at the IDS Crystal Court, Twins Management and members of the Twins Roster were on hand to unveil two new uniforms the Minnesota Twins will be sporting this coming spring.

The first is a 1961 throwback Twins Uniform that will be worn for special home games. The Twins Jersey is off-white with navy blue pinstripes and new lettering across the chest. The second new Twins Jersey is the primary jersey the Minnesota Twins roster will be sporting on the road. The road-jerseys for the Twins will be solid grey (no pinstripes) with Minnesota scripted across the chest. The new Twins Uniforms will not entirely replace the old ones, but players and fans alike are anticipating that we will be seeing lots of the throwback styles next spring.

Don't miss your chance to see these new jersey debut on April 12th 2010 when the Twins take on the Boston Red Sox at the first game at Target Field... Buy Twins Tickets today!

Computer Image of the New Target Field, home of the MN Twins
It's time... I feel like a kid waiting to write her letter to Santa, I held off as long as I could. It is time to start the official countdown until the Minnesota Twins open their first Twins home game at Target Field.

In exactly.... 143 Days, 2 hours and 10 minutes the Minnesota Twins will be welcomed onto Target Field, the new home of the Twins! Fans are eagerly awaiting the opening of Target Field and I for one intend to be first in line at the Target Field Ticket Office when single game Twins Tickets go on sale!

Could a new Minnesota Twins Blog be in order for the New Twins Stadium

Hey There Twins Fans!

With baseball season over and no new Twins News to report, I've had some time to think about my life as a sports blogger. While I will always love this site, I think that it might be time to start a new blog... new blog for a new stadium. I wouldn't dream of leaving any of you wanting for Twins News so trust me, if and when I decide to add a new blog my loyal Twins Fans peers will be the first to know!

Thoughts? Suggestions for Blog Titles? Post ideas?

Can't wait for Target Field to open and the Minnesota Twins to start playing again. Perhaps I will start the blog early and make predictions about the food and the seats.

GO TWINKIES!

Rain makes me think of Spring, Spring makes me think of Baseball and Baseball makes me think of the Twins at Target Field

For any of you living in the Twin Cities right now, you know that this October has been one of the rainiest on record and the weather has been more typical of early March than of early fall... what does that mean in terms of my love of baseball?

Rain makes me think of Spring... Spring makes me think of baseball... Baseball makes me think of the Minnesota Twins at Target Field!

I know that it may seem a little early to be thinking about the 2010 Minnesota Twins Season, but trust me its not! Target Field Tickets are going to be the hottest stocking stuffer this year, mark my words (hint, hint for anyone buying me a gift this year... I would love MN Twins Tickets!) If you aren't planning on buying tickets to Target Field for gifts but are still just a little curious about all the buzz, check out the video below of images from Target Field and think, in just a few short months we will be having warm rain that will signal the start of baseball and the opening of Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.

If the Minnesota Twins had made the 2009 MLB Playoffs instead of the NY Yankees

We could have seen more of these MN Twins hug fests if we had beat the Yankees If the Minnesota Twins had made the 2009 MLB Playoffs instead of the New York Yankees
1) I would not be blogging right now, but instead I would be doing everything in my power to beg, barter, steal, and seek out as many Minnesota Twins Tickets as possible because there is NO way I would have missed a moment of that game

2) We would not have to watch A-rod any more than we already have (this guy makes me crazy.. something about his attitude and mentality :( How he is with Kate Hudson is beyond me!)

3) We would still be watching Joe Mauer (my future husband) on a regular basis

4) I could have been continuing to ignore the impending Winter Season a few more weeks

and 5) The Minnesota Twins would have had a chance at a WORLD SERIES TITLE... if we had beat the New York Yankees, but we didn't...

Thanks for the Memories Twins, the 2009 MN Twins Season comes to a close but fans have LOTS to look forward to!

The Minnesota Twins 2009 Baseball Season has come to a close.

First I want to say a big Thank You to the Minnesota Twins Roster, you guys are the best! Despite our sometimes love-hate (you love me, I hate that I can't love you because you make me mad) relationship.. you guys worked really hard this season! Joe Mauer, you deserve the MVP title and I can't wait to see you at Target Field (if you want to meet up before then, I'd be ok with that too!)

Secondly, readers and fellow Twins Fans: TARGET FIELD and OUTDOOR BASEBALL is finally on the horizon. Now that we've paid due homage to the HHH Metrodome, we can get really excited about how outdoor baseball in the Twin Cities. I know that our weather isn't ideal and I know that you are probably thinking, what is Minnesota Twins Baseball without a Dome Dog, but I think it will be great! Baseball is meant to be outside and for as much as I LOVE the Dome, I think I'm going to LOVE Target Field that much more!

So until next season, the posts will probably slow down a little, but rest assured knowing that any breaking MN Twins news will be found here first! Also, check here as news about Twins Tickets for Target Field is released

What a season!

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees Post-Season Series wrap up

MN Twins pitching to the NY Yankees
So I'm no longer crying or yelling "what are you doing!?!" and am ready to re-cap the Minnesota Twins short postseason. In a 3 game series with the New York Yankees, the Minnesota Twins went from hero (winning the AL Central) to "zero" (notice I use quotes because even if my boys never won another game the Minnesota Twins will always be my favorite baseball team). Because watching the games wasn't hard enough, here is a brief re-cap of all 3 games.

Game One: Twins vs. Yankees in New York

Less than 24-hours after the insane win against the Detroit Tigers to clench the AL Central League title, the Minnesota Twins roster flew to New York to take on the Yankees. The first thing that I want to point out is that the Yankees had not played in 3 days, my Twinkies were tired... they were not. The game started out ok with both teams making their first runs in the 3rd inning and holding strong at 3-3, that's when things went down hill. In the 4th, 5th and 7th innings the Yankees scored unanswered runs, ending the game after the top of the 9th with a 2-7 score. Minnesota Twins fans were hopeful though that the loss was just nerves and the next game would be better. False

Game Two: Twins vs. Yankees in New York

After a day of rest, Twins Fans everywhere we excited to see their boys come out strong, and for the first 5 innings it felt ok... we weren't scoring, but we weren't letting them score either. Then in the 6th both teams brought players to home plate. In the 8th the Twins had 2 runs that went unanswered, Twinkies fans held their collective breath and dared to dream that we would beat the Yankees in Yankee Stadium...note I said DARED, we did not take down the baseball version of Goliath. Game Two ended 4-3 them.

Game Three: Twins vs. Yankees at the HHH Metrodome, can you feel the excitement?!

In game three the Twins returned home to one of the most excited home field crowds you could hope for, but it just didn't prove to be enough. After 9 innings of gasping, screaming and yelling the New York Yankees won the Twins/Yankees 2009 postseason series and ended the Minnesota Twins 2009 baseball season. Not before, hometown hero Joe Mauer was placed on the MVP list and fans got one last chance to say goodbye to the Dome.

You Win Some, You Lose Some... The MN Twins take the Detroit Tigers to clench the AL Central Title and then lose the Yankees in Game One

It has been a HUGE week for the Minnesota Twins (and by week I mean two days). For any of you out there that simply aren't Twins fans and live without a TV, Radio, Newspaper or Internet... THE MINNESOTA TWINS WON THE AL CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP!

In a nail biter that went into extra innings (12 innings to be precise) the Minnesota Twins won game 163 and took the AL Central Championship. The win really came down to strong pitching (something most Twins fans didn't think they would ever see) and a couple of critical at-bats. Probably the most dramatic and crucial play was Carlos Gomez's winning run from second base ending with a face first slide into home to clench the 6-5 win for my boys!

And now for the sad and disappointing... After a "lose your voice because you were screaming so loud that we won" game on Tuesday, the Minnesota Twins ventured to New York to take on the Yankees. Lets leave it at it WAS NOT pretty. The end score was 2-7, and we played like it... I can't really fault my Twins playing off of NO ENERGY after going 12 innings the night before and then traveling to New York. Scoring both of their runs in the 3rd inning and then not being able to answer back after that really just goes to show that my boys were tired and that they need a break if we are going to have a prayer. That break is coming tonight with the next game Friday in New York at 5:00, the game will be televised on TBS.

Preview the Minnesota Twins come to the Metrodome on Sunday to play game 3... Twins Tickets are getting close to sold out, I found some seats left online but they will go fast too! Lets Go TWINKIES!!

Can you sense the tension? A Huge Minnesota Twins Detroit Match-up this afternoon!

This is it Twins fans... our last chance at grasping the AL Central title. If (when, I'm thinking positively) the Minnesota Twins can pull it off tonight in the HHH Metrodome, we will take the AL Central Championship title and go on to face the Yankees.

Things to watch for tonight...

1)Strong leadership out of Joe Mauer, fans and the coaching staff are calling for our hometown boy Joe to be this seasons MVP. A good game from Mauer would clinch that for sure
2) Crazy fans... we all thought that we already had the LAST HOME SERIES EVER, this is like extra presents on Christmas and the Minnesota Twins fans are eager to unwrap them, who doesn't want to eat one more Dome Dog?
3) The Minnesota Twins Roster to keep the rally that no one thought was possible happening. The MN Twins are the first team to be in the position of coming out of being 3 games back with 4 to play... If the Twins finish the rally, they will be the first team in Major League History to do so.

The Game starts at 4, Lets go Twins! If they twins win tonight, look for a huge rush on Minnesota Twins Tickets... my advice, buy your Twins Tickets now!

Minnesota Twins have one more chance to beat the Detroit Tigers this afternoon

It's hard to be a Minnesota Twins fan right now. I think I've done it to myself, I was so optimistic at the beginning of the Detroit Tigers - Minnesota Twins series, I really thought that my boys had a series sweep in them... with the post season on the line, I thought that the Twins would play their hearts out... not so much.

While there hasn't been an overwhelming, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? moment that I can point to and say.. right there, that's when we lost it, I don't think that matters. After a great win on Tuesday morning, the Minnesota Twins lost the second game on Tuesday 5-6 and Wednesday (yesterday's game) 2-7.

The Twins face the Tigers for the last time today at 12:05. What I'm looking for is the Twins to redeem themselves. I want to see the Twins Roster play hard and end up on top. The way I see it, if the Twins can win today and then sweep the Kansas City Royals in their last home series at the Metrodome and the Tigers lose the rest of their games, we could still see the post season. So I'm cutting this post short so that I can be in front of the TV for the first pitch and I intend on sending as much Twinkie Love to my boys as possible, I would like you to do the same!

Check back next week for a game re-cap and previews for the KC Royals series!

Two Games in a row proved to be too much for the Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers win game 2 of the double header

Twins roster 48 walking off the field in a dissapointing loss against the Detroit Tigers
Well Twins fans... the anxiety must have gotten to them. I'm crossing my fingers and hopping on one foot hoping that it wasn't me (the Twins BIGGEST FAN) who jinxed them.

It's not like my boys just gave it away.. they held their own against the Detroit Tigers, losing only 5-6 but still.. I really thought we had it in the bag! I think what this comes down to is being tired. The Twins simply did not hit, catch or field the ball as well in last night's game as they did in the earlier game... and I can't blame them, an end of the season double header is a lot to ask of a team that has been on the road for several days on end already.

With a game today and another on Thursday, the Minnesota Twins roster needs to re-group. My boys need to take a minute, catch their breath and then remember that we are still in the running and we can't afford to lose any more games. I'm hoping that Joe Mauer (my favorite Twin this week) pulls his team together and inspires them into winning on Thursday.

All I can say for sure is that I will be smack dab in the middle of my couch today and tomorrow cheering the MN Twins on from home! Its not too late to get Minnesota Twins Tickets for the last home series, but if you plan on going you better buy tickets today!

A Huge Win as the Minnesota Twins defeat the Detroit Tigers in game one of the Double Header!

After yesterday's rain-out, the Minnesota Twins took on the Detroit Tigers today in the first of a 2 game, 1 day double header. I have to admit I was really worried that the change in plans and general anxiety that surrounds a double header would get to my boys... (me) of little faith.

The Minnesota Twins had a huge game. The Twins took the Detroit Tigers 3-2 in a nail biter game that went into extra innings. With Twins fans on the edge of their seats (and couches) our boys pulled it together and showed us all they are not done fighting for the post season yet! If the Minnesota Twins win again tonight and tomorrow, demand for MN Twins Tickets is going to be through the roof for their return home on Friday!

Check back tomorrow for an update about tonight's game and GO TWINS!

Minnesota Twins take on the Kansas City Royals in a 3 game series this weekend

Joe Mauer sliding into baseToday the Minnesota Twins travel to Kansas City to take on the Royals in the first game of a 3 Day- 3 Game series. The Twins are coming off of a great road series winning streak and I'm one Twins Fan who is very hopeful that they can keep the winning up!
The last time that the Minnesota Twins took on the Kansas City Royals was this August at home when they lost the series. Twins fans are hopeful that there will not be a reappearance of the late summer slump. Today's game is at 7:10, tomorrow the Twins-Royals play at 6:10 and on Sunday the two teams face off at 1:10.

Directly after the series with Kansas City Royals, my Twinkies are heading to Detroit for one last road series before returning to Minneapolis for the last series at the Metrodome. Lets all hope for 3 sweeps!

Go Twins!!

Minnesota Twins sweep the Chicago White Sox in the Windy City

Who would have thought that at the end of the Twins Season they would have a resurgence and prove again that they really do want to see some postseason action? After a late August and Early September mini-slump I was one Twin's fan who was ready to say goodbye to not only the HHH Metrodome but also any shot at going past the regular season.

However if the beginning of this week and the end of last week are any indication of what we can expect from the last month of Minnesota Twins Baseball, I will eat my words. The Twins pulled off two wins against the Detroit Tigers last week and then swept the White Sox in Chicago this week! With an impressive 7-0 win on Monday and then two 8-6 games Tuesday and Wednesday the Twins proved they are not going down without a fight!

There are only 3 Minnesota Twins Games left at the HHH Metrodome, which means that Minnesota Twins Tickets are becoming one of the hottest commodities in the Twin Cities, don't miss your chance to see the Twins in action (and hopefully winning) one last time at the Dome!

Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers

The Minnesota Twins take on the Detroit Tigers in a 3 game home series starting tonight at 7:10. My boys left me wanting more the last time we played Detroit losing the series after an amazing 11-0 shut out in the second game. This time around we are at home and I'm hoping that the HHH Metrodome will ooze out every little bit of Metrodome Magic possible. With only a few games left before the Twins take up residence at the New Target Field, one would think that the Dome owes the Twins a little something extra.

Saturday's game is at 3:10 and Sunday's is at 1:10, the countdown is getting closer and closer to the end... Hope you are ready to say Adios to the Metrodome, 1 more home series left after this!

Monday, September 07, 2009

Minnesota Twins take on the Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays Pitcher on the mound
The Minnesota Twins start their second road series today against the Toronto Blue Jays. With a 12:07 game, I'm hopeful that my boys will realize it is the middle of the day and won't think it is bedtime, because they can't sleep through this series like they have seemed to do for several other road series this season. With the Minnesota Twins regular-season coming to a screaming close it is time to get really serious about baseball if we plan on seeing the play-offs.

After 4 games with our Northern Neighbors, the Minnesota Twins will return home where the countdown to the last Twins game in the Metrodome is well under way. Starting Friday there are 12 home games left in the HHH Metrodome. So if the potential of play-offs wasn't enough to get you off the couch and in the seats, remember that this is your last shot at Minnesota Twins baseball in the Dome. Twins Tickets continue to get harder to find, so don't wait to long unless you want to say goodbye to the dome through a TV screen!

Chicago White Sox win against Minnesota Twins and the playoffs get a little farther away

Twins Catcher Joe Mauer up to bat
The Chicago White Sox ended the three game series at the Metrodome last night by beating our Twins 4-2 yesterday. Twins fans were hopeful that the series would be a sweep and the gap for the play-offs would be closed a little tighter. After the disappointing loss the Minnesota Twins are now 4 and a half games behind the division leader and have will have to make up lots of room if they plan on seeing the play-offs.

My boys have the day off and I hope they are spending it practicing and pulling it together because they take off tomorrow for a 3 game road series against the Cleveland Indians and then immediately following that they head to Toronto for a 4 game series against the Blue Jays.

I'm hoping that with a great two road series the Twins will be back on top as they return to the Metrodome late next week and start the final countdown to Goodbye HHH. Minnesota Twins Tickets will be very hard to get a hold of once the team returns from Toronto, so if you plan on catching any of the last 12 games at the Metrodome Buy Minnesota Twins Tickets today!

Minnesota Twins winning streak comes to an end

Twins catcher tagging an Orioles player out
For all of you Minnesota Twins fan who watched the game last night, you know that the 5 game winning streak our boys were riding came to an end last night... for those of you who missed the game and the morning paper, I'm sorry I had to break the bad news.

In a heartbreaking loss against the Baltimore Orioles, the Twins gave up 5 runs and only answered back with 1, leaving Twins Fans everywhere questioning if the our Twins Roster has the stamina to hold out in a long series without a break... though if the losing continues we won't see a postseason series long enough to wear us out.

Thankfully, the Twins have the night off before returning to the Metrodome this weekend to take on Texas. My hope, they all call it an early night and pull together whatever it was they let drop and scatter last night. The Minnesota Twins are still ranked 3rd in Central Division, but lets be honest, we would much rather see ourselves in the 1st or 2nd spot.

With 6 home series left and just as many road series, a move up in the standings and a better bid at the postseason is within our grasp... we just have to want it a little more. Speaking of wanting though, with just 6 series left Minnesota Twins Tickets are going to start to be very hard to find, if you plan on catching the Twinkies in the Metrodome one more time, I suggest buying tickets now!

Minnesota Twins vs. Texas Rangers could be first 3 game sweep in weeks

Although the rain this week in Minneapolis would have you thinking that it was either the beginning or end of the baseball season, mid-summer baseball has been in full swing in Texas this week and it seems that all my Twins needed was a little warm weather to remind them that they are a winning ball club that CAN play on the road.

After a disappointing end to July and early August, the Twins proved this week that they can be the team we all know and love. On Tuesday night in Texas the Minnesota Twins beat the Rangers 9-6 and then came back yesterday to hand it to the Rangers again with a final score 5-4. If the the Twins can pull out a third victory tonight (the play @7:05 CDT) this would be the first 3 game sweep since the played the Chicago White Sox in July.

With Mauer's batting White-Hot right now and Morneau on the mend this could be just the jump start the Twins need to take them through the rest of the season. Watch the Twins play the Rangers tonight at 7:05 Central Time.

Just when you were ready to give up on the Minnesota Twins

So yesterday's post was a little harsh, now I'm not taking back what I said... sometimes I think the Twins need a little tough love. Instead, I'm going to use positive reinforcement and commend my boys on the awesome turn-around they pulled out yesterday. After losing on Tuesday to the lowest-scoring team in the American League, the Twins fought back last night and beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1. In a game that restored the hopes and faith of the loyal Twins fan base.

A large contributor to last nights win was Francisco Liriano. The left-handed pitcher who hasn't been performing very well this season stepped out of the bull pen last night relaxed and ready to play. Liriano told a reporter, "I didn't try so hard, didn't try to make perfect pitches, that's the main thing. I tried not to overthrow." Whatever he was trying worked and I for one would like to see him try it again today. GO Twins!!

Twins Fans hang their heads in disbelief

In baseball when there is a total shut-out, fans of the losing team like to blame the other guys. Often you will here them say things like, "They are just untouchable this season" or "Have you been watching how they hit on the road, its crazy" or "They brought it tonight, we never had a shot"... most of the time these justifications make you feel a little better about your own team and the big ole' L they just posted...

But when the WORST team in the American League not only beats you, but spanks you at home, as a fan you might as well just shut your mouth and hang your head in shame. Needless to say for anyone who watched last night's Twins game, Miguel Olivo and the Kansas City Royals handed it to us.. and then they did it again, and again, and then a few more times for good measure. Astute Twin's fans should have known that when Olivo's first 3 at-bats produced a triple, a homer and a single that we should have called it a night then. No such luck, the Twins sucked it up all night and posted a 6-14 final score against the KC Royals who have been the lowest-scoring club all season, go figure.

Lets just say that if tonight and tomorrows games don't go better, I'm one Twins fan who will be going into the fan relocation agency first thing Monday morning... GO TWINS (I guess?)

Thursday, July 30, 2009

The Twins start their second home series of the week tomorrow against the Los Angeles Angels. With the up and down record that the Twins have been posting so far this season, this is one Twins fan who is very hopeful that the Metrodome Magic does its thing.

The Los Angeles Angels have had a pretty strong season and with Bobby Abreu turning out to be a white-hot second half hitter, the Twins are going to need to put all of their past pitching issues aside and pull out some real tricks.

Although he has not on the active roster, the Los Angles Angels coming also means that Torii Hunter former Twins player will be back in town which means that this game is sure to be a busy one, Twins Tickets will go fast for the whole series so buy them now!

Minnesota Twins vs. Oakland A's is a total let down

For the first time in a long time, I have to say that I am embarrassed to be a Twins fan. While most of the time I can find the good in the ugly but after this week's series with the Oakland A's I just do not have it in me to be positive.

The bottom of this downward spiral came on Wednesday when the Twins lost to the A's 16-1... seriously, SIXTEEN to ONE. While I am upset with our batting which could have been better, many teams struggle to hit well on the road. What gets me is that we gave up 16 runs. And although the difference was not nearly as big on Monday, we gave up 14 runs.

It leads me to wonder, What were the pitchers doing?Clearly not their jobs, that is for sure. We could not even shut out one of the worst offenses in the league. Before this series the A's were ranked last in the American League in extra-base hits, home runs and slugging percentage. They had scored the 3rd fewest runs in the league and had been totally shut out 7 times.

But in 28 innings against the Twins the team that couldn't against everyone else, did against us...32 times. So today, I have nothing encouraging to say other than, What were they thinking. If the Twins don't pull the pitching together soon we can kiss any chance of postseason play good-bye and Twins Tickets are about to get a lot more affordable because what will be the point of going?

Minnesota Twins add pitcher #12 to the roster

Twins Pitcher Kevin Mulvey
With the baseball season just passing the half way mark, the Twins did some evaluating this week and made changes to the roster that most Twins fans thought were necessary for quite some time. Unlike most of the other ball clubs in the league for the past month the Twins have been playing with only 11 pitchers on the roster... which had proven not to be enough. Most fans and couch coaches would say that the bullpen looks tired and without any consistent depth the starters have been playing well into the game.

Yesterday, the Twins announced however that they would be sending catcher Jose Morales to Triple A-Rochester to make room on the 25 man roster for Kevin Mulvey. Twins general manager Bill Smith said, "This will be a long-relief role. So we need someone who can pitch multiple innings and he's certainly done that." In Rochester Mulvey has been 3-6 with a 3.93 ERA in 17 starts. He also has struck out 81 batters and walked only 31 in 103 innings.

This Twins fan is hopeful that with the addition of a pitcher some of the problems that plagued us early in the season will be behind us and going into the second half and hitting the road the extra depth in the bullpen for the pitchers will mean that not only will we have strong starts we will be able to pull it through to the 8th and 9th inning.

Twins vs. Yankees disappoints but Gomez steps up

Although the Twins have had a rough series against the New York Yankees this week, losing 2-10 on Wednesday and 3-4 last night, there may be a bright spot on the Twins roster. Carlos Gomez, the centerfielder who replaced Torii Hunter in 2008 seems to be finding his place in the outfield at the Metrodome. After a season of watching him hit the wall over and over again, many Twins fans, myself included, were begging for Torii back. But in an interview with first base coach Jerry White, Gomez may be just working out the kinks.

White has been working with Gomez to move around in the outfield, trying to help him find where the wall is and how far he can go. "We had to do the same thing with Torii, he went through the same process trying to get him to move here" White said.

Twins fans may be starting to see the fruits of that labor. On Tuesday with the bases loaded, Gomez caught a deep fly over the fence that kept the Yankees from scoring a grand slam. And even though the game ended badly, it is encouraging to hear that Torii Hunter, the beloved former Twins centerfield, told Gomez that he has what it takes to win the Golden Glove Award. With all of the heartbreak we have had to endure, this may be exactly what we as Twins fans need to hear... there is hope.

Is their Mojo back?

With the season not even at the half way point, Twins fans have already been through the roller-coaster of ups and downs that true fans have come to associate with Twins baseball. With some pre-season success in the exhibition games I was hoping that this would be our season, and then spring rolled in and we had pitching issue after pitching issue and we couldn't seem to pull it together at all on the road starting the season with a 4-14 record on the road.

But times may be changing again, our Twins have managed to win 6 of the last 9 road games and are heading into a 4th of July weekend series at the Metrodome against the Detroit Tigers who lost their last on the road series against Houston. Leaving this Twins fan to wonder, have we gotten our Road Mojo back?

I think that the combination of winning last week, the smell of domedogs, and the roar of the home-town crowd will be enough to pull out another winning series, something that the team and fans both need! With the record over the .500 mark (41-39) I certainly hope that the next set of games in the Dome will only help that number climb!

Tune in between 4th of July BBQ's this weekend to watch the Twins at home:
July 3rd @ 7:10, Twins vs. Detroit
July 4th @ 3:10, Twins vs. Detroit
July 5th @1:10, Twins vs. Detroit

Beating the Heat

This past week I have been spending my days inside avoiding the insane heat mother nature so kindly brought us this week and coaching from the couch, lets just say I'm the perfect air-conditioned temperature and my voice is horse from yelling so much. The rivalry series against the Milwaukee Brewers started out well with a strong 7-3 win for the Twins. After beating the Brewers in the teams last four meetings, this Twins fans thought that our boys had it locked up, that the Twins were finally going to have some success on the road...

And then last night hit, while the Twins started strong with a 3-2 lead and no glaring errors after the top of the 8th. In the bottom of the 8th with a pitching error and poor judgement from Nick Blackburn the Twins lost their lead and the Brewers eventually winning 4-3. What makes the evening even more upsetting is that for the first time since June 1998 a Twins pitcher to throw back-to-back complete games, something that should have been means for celebration.

While there are constant changes being made in the outfield with Denard Span be reactivated on the roster and Jason Pridie being sent to Rochester to make room, it seems to me that the Twins need to be focusing on finding a pitcher that can keep it together through an entire game. With a game this afternoon time will tell if the Twins can come back from last night's blunders to finish the series on top.

Francisco Liriano Disappoints…Again

Twins pitcher Francisco Liriano disappointed this Minnesota Twins Fan...AGAIN. Liriano is just not the super star starter he once was and the Twins Pitching Coached better realize that and make some changes. Liriano's ERA by inning: first, 0.00; second, 3.21; third, 7.71; fourth, 12.21. – what? 12.21 in only the fourth inning pitched? That’s nuts. Management needs to recognize that Liriano is now just a two inning pitcher and get him out of the Twins starting lineup.

"I'm real frustrated because every time I miss one pitch, it just changes the whole game," Liriano said. "I don't know what to do anymore. I think I've got to go out there and just pitch. That's all I can do."

Duh. Your job is to pitch, just do it, but do it well. Francisco Liriano needs to learn how to sustain his power – I think Ron Gardenhire and the pitching coaches are looking at as that Liriano makes one mistake and that shakes him, but I think it’s more like the one mistake mark is that Liriano can’t sustain his pitching power and then it just steadily falls after that.

Come on Twins – get it together! The AL Central is still wide open.

Minnesota Twins Tickets All You Can Eat

Has anyone ever bought the All-You-Can-Eat Seats? I know tons of people have, but I want to hear some real life comments about it - - - like: Is it a good value? Do you spend more time in line than watching the game? Are the hot dogs cold? Stuff like that.

From the research I have done, I see you pay about $39 per person (with fees) and then you get a ticket in upper deck in section 232 which are normally $21 … but really if you sitting up there you might as well sit in the cheap seats for $8 . . . so you would need to eat about $30 worth of food to break even in my book. That’s about 3 Hot Dogs, 3 Sodas, 2 Pretzels, Peanuts and Nachos from 6pm to 9pm. That might be more than I want to eat – my stomach is begging for Pepto just thinking about it! If you can only get 2 items at a time, that is 5 trips through the line – ouch.

The next Minnesota Twins All You Can Eat Day is tomorrow vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates. You can still order tickets on-line . . . I am thinking about it . . . just so I can say I did it . . . just once.

Minnesota Twins Road Trip

The Minnesota Twins are set to finish up the western part of their road trip today after playing three games against Seattle Mariners (won one, lost two) and then four games against Oakland A’s (won two, lost one so far) – the Twins need to win a few more games / series in order to advance in the AL Central right now. I know the rod trips are tough, but the Twins have got to play better . . . mostly PITCH better. The marathon road trip continues to Chicago Cubs territory for a weekend series before getting the Twins back to the Metrodome on Tuesday June 16th.

Clearly, the Twins know they have a pitching weakness – in the MLB Entry draft, 16 of the Twins' 31 picks have been pitchers – good!

Minnesota Twins Schedule

I was looking over the Minnesota Twins Schedule for the month of June and I noticed that there aren’t very many Metrodome home games the month of June. With the Indians series behind us, there are only 2 more series coming to the Metrodome this June.

6/16 TUE PITTSBURGH 7:10
6/17 WED PITTSBURGH 7:10
6/18 THU PITTSBURGH 12:10

6/19 FRI HOUSTON 7:10
6/20 SAT HOUSTON 6:10
6/21 SUN HOUSTON 1:10

Wow, that has got to be a scheduling anomaly. Be sure to take advantage of your few opportunities to see Minnesota’s boys of summer the month of June.

Twins lose to Cleveland Indians at Metrodome

I can’t believe I have to write that headline, but it’s true the Minnesota Twins got socked last night 10-1 by the Cleveland Indians in front of the Metrodome home crowd.

Twins rookie pitcher Anthony Swarzak looked terrible in the third inning. I could have hit those pitches! The Indians may be at the bottom of the American League Central, but they are still major league hitters and they showed it against the youth of Swarzak.

Carlos Gomez and Indians pitcher Cliff Lee continued to jaw at one another all night. I say if Gomez wants to get under Lee's skin he needs to get a hit and get on base and stop the jaw jacking!

Same two teams at the Dome today, I wonder what will happen. Hopefully a Twins win. Scott Baker needs a good outing. Twins vs Indians at noon at the Metrodome. Wish I didn’t have to work.

Minnesota Twins Slide, Buy Twins Tickets and Support a Rally

The Minnesota Twins continue to SLIDE down the slippery slope of loserville. Losing 6 games in a row is a definite blow to the team that was just a couple of games back from first place in the Central League standings. Now, they are over 5 games back and it isn’t looking very pretty.

I am wearing my Twins jersey today – I am calling it my Twins rally jersey in hopes of an afternoon game win in Chicago White Sox land.

I am also looking forward to the Twins returning the Homerdome on Friday hosting the Milwaukee Brewers for three games and then the Boston Red Sox for four. Get your Minnesota Twins jerseys on and head out to the Metrodome and support this team in a turn around. I see local ticket companies like Ticket King have Minnesota Twins tickets for sale. I bought reserved outfield tickets, I think they call them the home run porch, but I kept calling it the home run patio – LOL! two weeks ago for under face value from Ticket King. So keep your eyes on their Twins ticket prices, if you want to get in cheap, Ticket King can help you with Minnesota Twins Tickets – they also have some of the best seats in the entire Metrodome, but trust me those don’t come cheap.

Staying Up Late Watching Twins Baseball

Confession Time: I love staying up late to watch Twins Baseball. The kids are in bed, the husband is in bed - it's just me and the Joe's and Justin and my new love (tonight anyway) Jason Kubel.

I know extra innings are exhausting, but there is something exhilarating about them as well. It's the sudden death feeling that gets my heart racing and my eyeballs scrutinizing every single pitch.

I love Twins Territory.

Twins Baseball Frustrating

Todays Pioneer Press Minnesota Twins headline;

"Ron Gardenhire rages after Minnesota Twins end up on short end against Baltimore Orioles"

Gardy isn’t the only one raging. I can’t believe how terrible the Twins luck has been lately. Whether it’s the conspiracy to shorten games in the home teams favor due to bad weather (Baltimore last night) or the flukey bounces of the ball lately that have caused some embarrassing fielding errors for the Twins, not to mention the terrible pitching which doesn’t look anything like it did in spring training.

It just seems nothing can go right for the Minnesota Twins lately (except for baby Jesus Mauer coming back) – Twins baseball is so frustrating….then again, I think that is just the destiny for a Minnesota sports fan in general…FRUSTRATION.

Twins Blogger Bored

What no new Twins blog yet? Nope. I am just not feeling that excited about the Minnesota Twins baseball team (even if they are just half a game out of first place). I think I need to get out to the Metrodome and taste the sweet “Dome Dog” nectar so I can get inspired to creat a beautifully scripted web page for my hometown team.

Besides I am waiting for baby jesus Mauer to get back into town.

Minnesota Twins Team Cold

One week later and I am not feeling any more “FIRED UP” about the Minnesota Twins baseball team. Sure they swept the Los Angeles Angels, but after the poor appearance in Boston, I just want to cry. We have some serious pitching issues. I am not off the bandwagon yet, but I am not on either...thus the reason I have yet to unveil the new Twins blog.

Minnesota Twins off to a rocky start

No, the new Twins blog isn’t up and running yet, but neither are the baseball players on the Minnesota Twins team. Last night was a real embarrassment and the 4-6 record isn’t much to be proud of either. I know all the baseball enthusiasts out there are telling me to settle down, it’s early, but it’s hard to catch Twins Fever when the team is cold.

Want to read a funny baseball blog? Check out http://morehardball.blogspot.com/

My favorite piece is their celebrity look-a-like bit with Joe Mauer:
Young Joe Maurer bears an uncanny resemblance to Tony Manero (John Travolta, Saturday Night Fever). Maybe it's in the eyes, I think it is in the ass dimpled chin.

My new Minnesota Twins blog isn't ready to roll yet (surprise, surprise) . . . but by the looks of things last night the Twins aren't ready to roll yet either.

New Twins Blog Update

My new Minnesota Twins blog will LAUNCH (drumroll, please) on:

Monday, April 6thTWINS OPENING DAY

What a perfect time to kick-off a blog dedicated to the boys of summer . . . and a few other things.

I haven’t decided on the new blog name yet – I really like Twins Target and Talladega, but I think it may be hard for people to spell / remember.

These are some of my other choices:

TwinsatTargetField

TargetandTwinsBaseball

TwinsandTarget or TwinsonTarget

MinnesotalovesTwinsandTarget

None of these roll off the tongue or get me as excited as Twins, Target and Talladega. I think I may have to go with that one. Blogging 101 says to pick a blog theme that you are passionate about because in order to be a successful blogger you have to have a niche and write a lot!

Check back - I will post a link to the new blog once I launch it!

New Minnesota Twins Blog

I want to create a new Minnesota Twins Blog that incorporates more than just baseball talk because let's face it - I am not a total baseball nut. I have other interests as well - like shopping! I really like to shop at Target and since the new Twins stadium will be dubbed Target Field, it seems fitting to blend my two loves of Twins Baseball and Target Shopping into one blog - right?

That's a rhetorical question because I have already made my mind up...what I haven't decided is what my URL name should be. If anyone has any clever ideas - let me here them!

New Twins Blog

I have officially decided I am starting a new Minnesota Twins blog …. it will be all about:

“My obsession with Target and Twins Baseball”

I will need a few weeks to get it rolling, but watch out other Twins Bloggers – this new blog will be fierce!

Minnesota Twins Fan Blog needs a Do-Over

I am lacking on Minnesota Twins blog inspiration. This blog may be coming to an end real soon. I think I want to start a different blog – maybe on drug users in professional sports, there seems to be plenty of news about that. j/k I would loathe writing about that every day.

I googled Minnesota Twins blog and I didn’t even come up on the first page or the second or the third or the fourth . . . etc. There were celebrity baby blogs ahead of mine – what gives google? I am tired of working with the google powers that be – it may be time to start over. They have a Twins blog that hasn’t been updated since JULY 2008 in the top 10, but not mine. WHATEVER!

I want my new Twins baseball blog to be more than just baseball, though and I want it to have a clever theme . . . way in on these:

How about:

“My obsession with Target and Twins Baseball” (I spend a lot of my time shopping at Target and they are sponsoring the new ballpark)

“Just Another Twins Baseball Girl” (I could incorporate more girly stuff in my blog entries like make-up tips and game day fashion advice)

“Baseball and Bologna” (two of my favorite things – and really a Dome Dog is just a big piece of bologna in a cylinder shape)

Minnesota Twins News

Things are rather quiet in the Minnesota Twins News department….at least for the average fan. I am sure if you are one of those super Twins bloggers, you have scouting reports and salary updates and free agent signing rumors, but not me. I got nothing.

EXCEPT, I was at Menards yesterday and they are giving away a Twins Spring Training trip! Airfare, Hotel and game tickets – hooah! I was pumped, it is my DREAM to go to Spring Training. The game tickets are for the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays games. It would be waaaaay more exciting if the tickets were for the NY Yankees or Boston Red Sox games, but hey – a trip to Florida in March? I am not complaining. I hope I win!

Twins Fest, no Young?

Twins Fest was last weekend and there seemed to be quite a few fans in attendance. The paper reported that there were 4,000 fewer than 2007 which I thought was strange since this year they had more star power on the roster for autographs.

I found it interesting that Delmon Young was absent from most of the planned activities. I read in the paper that he had the stomach flu. Hmmm, “Sick” – huh? I am betting the Twins are sick of him. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Twins work out a deal to trade him.

Minnesota Twins Tickets Popular

The Minnesota Twins reported that “Minnesotans are so eager to watch baseball at Target Field, they're buying a record number of tickets to the Metrodome.”

The Twins are expecting to sell almost 11,000 season tickets (a franchise record) for the 2009 season due to the fact that the seat-selection process for Target Field begins with Twins season ticket holders. I am guessing that you will be able to buy cheap single game tickets this year from ticket brokers like Ticket King, then because there will be an excess of “purchased” tickets on the market.

I will want to see a few games at the Metrodome this season (the Twins 28th), but I won’t go out of my way to see more games than I usually do. Are other fans? It will be interesting to see what the season holds.

I was surprised that you couldn’t buy Twins Tickets at TwinsFest last weekend – what was up with that? The Twins Schedule is out and ticket brokers already have tickets for sale. Weird – I think the Twins missed out on potential ticket money from single game fans (like me!)

Joe Mauer not Ready, not healthy

Everyone’s favorite Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer says he might not be ready to go for the start of Twins spring trainingwhy? He had surgery in December to get rid of a kidney blockage…isn’t that a Kidney Stone? Can’t you just “pass” those? Anyway, I have always thought Mauer was a little soft when it came to toughness and this just proves it even further. Come on Joe, toughen up and get swinging that bat!

I know if he needs a nurse, my friend Nicole would love to volunteer! I think he will be at Twins Fest this weekend Nicole, you should put on a nurses outfit and go to the Dome!

Target Field Seats Revealed

I saw a news story this afternoon about the new Twins stadium seats. Boy, those Twins marketing gurus are good at keeping the baseball team in the news even during the boring off season.

Here’s the deal: Target Field will have 6 different types of seats – apparently that is very unusual – I have only been to 3 MLB ballparks and I have to admit I didn’t look around to count the seat types so we will have to take the official word of the Twins that this is unusual and newsworthy. There will be bleachers with backs, plushy suite seats and most of the stadium (80%) will be filled with the standard folding ballpark seats we are all used to.

What will be new to us is that the Target Field seats will be 1 inch wider than the Metrodome seats and offer more leg room – I think that is fitting in the state that is home to Paul Bunyan and the Green Giant!

The folding ballpark seats will be a Northwood green color to give Target Field an old time ballpark feel and of course are touted as fade resistant. The club level will have wood back seats which look pretty cool. You can try the new seats out at Twins Fest this weekend…for some of us poorer baseball fans, it may be the only time we get to sit in the seats.

Bert Blyleven not in the Hall of Fame

I know this is older news, but I just wanted to comment quickly on the fact that former Twins pitcher Bert Blyleven was AGAIN denied enshrinement in the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was his 12th consecutive try (you only get 15). He did receive 62.7 percent of the vote (you need 75 percent to get in) which is up a teeny tiny bit from last years 62 percent which was up hugely over 2007’s 47.7 percent.

What I think is weird or funny – It’s not like Bert Blyleven’s accomplishments change – he hasn’t thrown a strike since 1988 – why do some voters choose to vote for him now and not 10 years ago? Maybe next year, Bert?

Justin Morneau is now a Married Man

This Minnesota Twins fan is in mourning over the recent marriage of my all-time favorite first baseman, Justin Morneau. Yes, ladies Mr. Morneau is officially off bachelor status after getting married in Edina last Saturday to Minnesota girlfriend Krista. Mr. and Mrs. Morneau held their wedding reception at the Landmark Center in St Paul – part of me thought of crashing the party or digging out the black funeral dress and veil and just standing across the street with a sign that says "I am in mourning over Morneau." Ok, that is crazy talk – I know. Justin’s former roommate and Twins buddy Joe Mauer was a groomsman and a bunch of other Twins players attended the big wedding including Nick Punto, Mike Redmond, Boof Bonser, Pat Neshek, and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.

I was sad that I didn’t get my invite and even sadder that my dreams of marrying Justin Morneau are over, but no worries I won’t be pulling a Madonna anytime soon - ha ha.

Carl Pohlad Gone, Not Forgotten

It’s been a week and a half since I update this Twins blog – sorry, readers! Not too much to report on the off-season yet and the Twins offices are usually quiet over the holiday weeks as well.

I am sure everyone heard that Twins owner Carl Pohlad died Monday. As with any pro sports team owner, us fans have enjoyed (endured?) a love/ hate relationship with Pohlad. I am sure we will experience more of the same with Pohlad’s sons taking over the top level decision making. My guess is regular fans will not even notice the difference. We will still be frustrated with lack of spending especially if the team doesn’t make it to the playoffs in ’09 and even more frustrated if the team isn’t World Series ready when we open the fancy new stadium in ’10.

Part of me feels sad that Carl Pohlad won’t get to sit in the stands and see the first pitch thrown at Target Field in 2010, but then again he didn’t want to pay for that stadium any way – I am still bitter he wouldn’t ante up more money especially for a retractable roof – come on, Carl – you lived in Minnesota, you know the weather! And that fact that there are plenty of fair-weather fans. Every time a game is cancelled due to rain or cold, I will think of Carl.
Carl Pohlad may be gone, but he will not be forgotten as his next generation take over the Minnesota Twins.
