Last week on June 5th, Major League Baseball held its annual First Year Player Draft. The Minnesota Twins, having the fifth overall pick in the first round, selected shortstop Nick Gordon out of Olympia High in Orlando Florida.
Twins scouting director Deron Johnson was quoted by Star Tribune reporter La Velle E. Neall III saying, “We have been locked in on Nick. He was our guy from the start. We like the fact he can play shortstop. We like his offense, his ability to swing. I think he's going to have power down the road.''
