Minnesota Twins Road Trip

The Minnesota Twins are set to finish up the western part of their road trip today after playing three games against Seattle Mariners (won one, lost two) and then four games against Oakland A’s (won two, lost one so far) – the Twins need to win a few more games / series in order to advance in the AL Central right now. I know the rod trips are tough, but the Twins have got to play better . . . mostly PITCH better. The marathon road trip continues to Chicago Cubs territory for a weekend series before getting the Twins back to the Metrodome on Tuesday June 16th.


Clearly, the Twins know they have a pitching weakness – in the MLB Entry draft, 16 of the Twins' 31 picks have been pitchers – good!

Twins are Hot at Home with Francisco Liriano

Sure, this Minnesota Twins blog has been quiet as of late, but the Minnesota Twins baseball team has not! The Twins are tied for first and on fire!

Last night, Francisco Liriano used that left arm of his to beat down the Seattle Mariners at the Metrodome 9-3…the best part? The Minnesota Twins are tied for first place in the AL Central (again).

I think Francisco Liriano is itching to make it into my top Twins Pitcher list, but he will need to tighten up a but first. Sure, he got the big win and I swore I saw some speeds at 92 MPH, but the 30 pitch 4th inning had me nervous, but he got out of it and the Twins bats are on fire so that always helps the pitchers confidence as well.


I think I am a few series behind on my random game facts, but don’t dismay – I WILL BE BACK (in the voice of the Terminator of course…in honor of Arnie coming to town for the RNC)

Carlos Silva to Mariners

There will be plenty of baseball players changing uniforms in the New Year and we can now add Carlos Silva to that list. Silva signed a four-year contract with the Seattle Mariners that will average $12 million a season. $48 million! Wow. Silva was 13-14 last season, but still managed to draw a high price tag from Seattle. The Twins reportedly offered him $18 million over three season or about $6 million a year – half of what Seattle paid. Half! I guess the market for free agent pitchers is crazy tight right now – wish I knew how to throw a good sinker!

The Twins will have to rely on the skills of Scott Baker, Boof Bonser, Francisco Liriano (finally back!) and Kevin Slowey to get them through next season. Is it spring yet? I am soooo tired of shoveling snow!

Twins Continue Season-Long Flirt with .500 mark

The Minnesota Twins rollercoaster ride of a season continued last week, as the uphill climb only resulted in another downfall in the American League Central Division standings. The Twins were within 4 ½ games of first place last week, but after Monday night’s loss to the Seattle Mariners, the Twins are now a full seven games behind both the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians. The Twins are now two games below the .500 mark; if they are to have any chance at the playoffs, the Twins must climb above .500 and never look back. The Twins have one more game on the road and then have six straight games at the Metrodome. Let's hope the Twins can take advantage of the home field and win some games. If you are looking for Cheap Twins Tickets, it looks like Monday's game vs. the Seattle Mariners is your best bet. The Twins may be down, but they aren't out...yet.
