So Phil Hughes Is Being Awesome

Remember more than five years ago when there were rumors that the Twins might have traded then star pitcher Johan Santana to the Yankees for Phil Hughes?

Well I guess now we know why - because Hughes has been on fire ever since he got into a Twins uni.

After last nights 2-0 win over the Padres, Hughes improved his pitching record to 5-1 on the season and in doing so surpassed his win total from the entire 2013 season when he went 4-14 with the New York Yankees. But even more impressive about his pitching is the following bit of information written by Tyler Mason of Fox Sports North:
"For the fifth straight start, Hughes did not walk a batter. His walk-free streak was extended to 147 consecutive batters after he faced 28 Padres hitters in Wednesday's outing without issuing a free pass. The last time he walked a batter was April 20, more than a month ago."
Talk about having control when you're pitching - dude hasn't walked a batter in a month. A MONTH.
